Entry 8
Named the system Black Canyon. Set down on Alkeline XII, right beside a Holographic Comms Tower on what the systems labeled the Seongosh platform. Pure chance, but I took it. Climbed up and accessed an old log. It read:
“Korvax [unknown] other Korvax to examine projection. Is Gek [unknown] effective? Is carapace [unknown]?”
The missing words aren’t corrupted, just beyond my current understanding. Still, the structure suggests a study. Comparison, maybe. Korvax observing Gek biology… or function. “Carapace” implies structure, protection. Adaptation?
Moved on and found another tower just over the ridge. Another message:
“Korvax use largest [unknown], but still no connection echos. Where are echos?”
That one repeats a pattern I’ve seen before. Feels like they’re trying to reach something. The missing word after Largest could be beacon, relay, or signal array. Something built for range. But the echoes… not receiving, or not returning. Strange.
Is there nothing else then Comms Towers on this planet?? Found another a mile to the south! Log read:
“[unknown] is fascinating. So much distortion. Other carapace look [unknown] from [unknown]. Korvax had [unknown] from convergence.”
This one is harder to piece together. Could be describing change, deviation from a standard. Something about comparison between forms, maybe even divergence from the Convergence itself.
Didn’t get long to think on it. Toxic storm rolled in fast while I was still up top. Had to drop about ten meters with the jetpack to get clear. Rough landing, but manageable. Back in the ship before exposure got worse. Outside toxicity peaked at 100.3 before the cabin stabilized.
Waited out the storm for about an hour. Visibility near zero. The large native insects kept flying overhead like it was nothing, completely unaffected. Meanwhile I sat there, going over the logs again.
If I had to guess, the Korvax here were searching for something they expected to respond. Signals, echoes, maybe even other Korvax. But no response came back. Either whatever they were looking for is gone… or it never answered at all.
