Entry 17
Found another ship a couple miles to the north. Same kind of crash. Long skid across the surface, then impact. This one ended up down in a valley and didn’t have the momentum to climb back out. Because of that it’s mostly intact.
Crew was Vy’keen. All dead. What’s left is mostly bone now. Looks like it’s been here just as long as the Gek freighter. Same time, or close enough.
Went straight to the control room this time. Found the captain where he died, or rather what remains of him. Next to the bones I found the ship logs. Still readable.
This is what I read:
Datastamp 2,346.7 :: We are returning home, carrying data backups of the echoes. The crew don't like it. All those souls creep them out. I tell them it's nothing to worry about. The Vy’keen fear no others. Those rich enough to survive death didn't care about us in life, and now we have their backups. They need us now, in case there was an accident, or someone switches the main site off. Who'd want to do that, I wonder?
Datastamp 2,375.9 :: We made first contact with the Korvax before all others. They found us, they showed us what we could -kzzkt-
Datastamp 2,378.6 :: They too have ‘echoes’, though their translation is imperfect. Their Convergence is a repository of all those who have ever lived. Ours is a mausoleum of vanity, a monument to the fear of death and nothing more.
Datastamp 2,281.1 :: ... ... -kzzzkt- ... ...
Logs cut off after that. No clear ending. Just interference.
Echoes again. Same word as on Alkeline XII.
Two ships. Same system. Similar crash patterns. Both carrying something important.
Still no clear answer, but I feel that i'm getting closer to the solution.
